Web Site Features: Slide ShowsSlide Shows are an important part of the PSA web site. The use of slide shows on the web site will increase as more PSA services and activities take advantage of this methodology to display a program’s winning images. There are basically two kinds of slide shows being utilized: those that progress automatically at a set amount of time for each slide after the show begins; and those that allow the viewer to advance the slides manually, one at a time at the viewer's discretion. When viewing the slide shows that advance automatically, the viewer can stop the show at any time and can click to see a still image. The manual advancing slide shows are particularly useful for 3D images since they allow the viewer whatever time they need to "view each image as a 3D image." The Photo Travel Division Interclub Competition Director and the EID Interclub Director prepare the Award and HM images from each round of their competitions during the year so they can be shown in a slide show on the PSA web site. Using Photoshop's Canvas option, both vertical and horizontal images are placed on a similarly sized canvas (typically 500 x 413 pixels) with the canvas making a border suitable for holding image details. Onto the background or border for each image is placed the image title, the maker's name, and the name of the maker's club. Images are saved as jpegs, 120 ppi, and file names should be sequenced in the order the images should appear in the slide show. For example: CPID_Interclub_01_ImageMaker_Title.jpg. The suggested order of images is Honorable mentions, third place, second place, and first place as the last image. Title images may be created for competitions with many sections and they should be numbered so they appear in the proper sequence. For more information regarding this option, contact the webmaster. The Directors of some PSA activities prepare programs of the winning images for presentation at the PSA Conference. These shows, for example, done in Keynote or PowerPoint, can be converted to a slide show for the PSA web site. For more information regarding this option, contact the webmaster.
