PSA held its 74th Annual International Conference in San Francisco from September 16 through September 22. It was attended by more than 400 photographers, almost 60 of whom came from outside the United States. The next conference will take place in September of 2013 in Portland, Maine. The 23rd Congress of FAPA (Federation of Asian Photographic Art) 2012 took place in Gui Zhou, China, from October 7 through October 15, 2012. In attendance were more than 400 photographers from 17 countries, including 28 Chinese photo Clubs. (The next FAPA will take place in 2014, in Penang, Malaysia.)
His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, attended the ceremony of ((Sharjah award for the Arabic photo)) last month. The award ceremony was organized by the Union of Arab Photographers (PSA member) at the American University of Sharjah auditorium. The opening ceremony was attended by Mr. Ayman Lotfy PSA Middle East Region Director, who presented Trophy to His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and to the top winners of each theme of the Arab Photographers contest.
His Honor H.H. Shekh Sultan Ruler of Sharjah, honored Mr. Ayman Lotfy RDPSA for his activities and support for the activities and education programs of photography in the Arab Region.
Also, PSA middle east hosted the very active group of Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum international photography Award (HIPA) in Cairo and Alexandria in Egypt, which the group presented all the information and the awards of the contest that it is the highest cash prize in the world, with a grand prize of $120,000, and total awards of $389,000.
The PSA Region Director dedicated a Shield and two Certificates of appreciation from PSA Region 31 to H.H Ali bin Thalith General Secretary & Miss Sahar El Zari Assistant Secretary of HIPA for their support to the art of photography through the HIPA Photo Contest. The PSA Middle East organizes lectures, workshops, art photography exhibitionx and education programs in the Arab region since 2007.
