PPD Print of the Month (POM): January 2013
Claudia Peterson, of San Jose, CA, won for the second time this contest year with her first place Star Mono Last Sunflower of Summer. Our judge, Arthur Jacoby, explains: "I think this is a well done composition that is telling the story of the transience of all things. I like how the sepia tones and the subdued lighting reveal interesting details and structure. The lines in the wood bring my eyes to the white petals of the wilted flower, along the stem to the battered dish whose curve leads my eye through the textures of the dish to the left side and then down for another look at the image."
