PPD Print of the Month (POM): September 2012
Chor-Yin George Chan of Kingsbury, Australia, won for the first time in eight months with his first place Star Mono, The Bridge. This month's judge, Dan Katzman, was enthusiastic:
"It is a pleasure to see such an accomplished image. The underlying subject and composition are exceptional. The printing has been thoughtful and well executed. While the original scene was shot in flat light with dirt colored background, you have carefully opened up the farmer's face from the hat's shadow so he appears as a thoughtful individual. The darkening of the bridge arch and the higher contrast in the cattle's hair also give structure and depth to the scene. You should be very proud of this image and I invite you to think of additional ways of getting it shown and recognized."
