Review by TomP., 4-1-2014Comments: Your focus and story are good. The background is very bright and overwhemls the eyes. Perhaps a tighter crop on the birds would have helped them pull more focus.

Interesting use of high contrast imaging Good use of depth of field with both Vultures in focus. Good overall effect and good action.

A strong image of the vultures which would be stronger if more tightly cropped. The sand requires its detail enhancing.

I live and work on the south coast in the UK. I have used a lot of different equipment from 5 x 4 plate cameras to 16mm Minnox and most sizes in between. I used to process and print black and white, however, now I am fully digital using Canon 5D and 5D Mk2 bodies with Sigma 150 macro and EF 85 1.8, 17-40, 24-105 and 70-200 f4, various extenders and extension tubes and flash. I always shot RAW and 95% of the processing is done in Lightroom 3 with Elements 10 for resizing and saving for web. I took my first picture when I was 5 years old and now, in my late fifties, I think it is about time I learnt how to take a decent picture! I have had a little success in competitions and exhibitions, however I seem to have many more that didn't quite make it. I joined PSA in October 2011 to learn. I am taking the Image Evaluation course and am looking forward to my group's comments and critics, and taking more courses.
