|PSA seeks to encourage the newest generations to learn and share the enjoyment of photography. In 1998, the first Outstanding Photographs from the Young Photographers exhibition was selected and shown at the PSA Annual Conference in Orlando, Florida. The exhibit included 55 prints selected from 200 entries from 35 high schools in six states sponsored by eight PSA Chapters and PSA-member clubs and councils. That was the beginning and the PSA Youth Photography Showcase continues to grow. In 2012, the showcase was expanded to include all eligible students world-wide; digital images were also accepted for the first time.|
All PSA Chapters and PSA-member Clubs and Councils are encouraged to serve as sponsors for the Youth Photography Showcase. There are no limits on the number of high schools or organizations that may be sponsored by a PSA group. However, there may be no more than 12 entries from any high school or organization, one for each of the six digital and six print entries. For both digital and print entries, 2 images and 2 prints are allowed in the Choice/Creative Category. Two participating PSA groups cannot receive separate entries from the same school or organization. Entry is free; however, postage must be included if a print entry is to be returned.
Each participating chapter, club, or council may select, from each high school or youth organization, six 5" X 7" up to 9" X 12" unmounted prints, two entries in the Photographer's Choice category and one each for the four remaining categories listed above, in either black and white or color.
Each participating chapter, club, or council may select, from each high school or youth organization, six digital images, no greater than 1024 pixels wide and 768 pixels high; two entries in the Photographer's Choice category and one each for the four remaining categories listed above, in either black and white or color.
The Inland Empire Chapter of PSA donates $1000 to the annual PSA Youth Photography Showcase.
