PPSA Gallery: Richard E. Kolson, APSA, PPSA
Richard joined PSA in 1982. Since then he has been involved in many PSA activities and positions. He was formerly the North East Distributor for the Recorded Lecture Programs, and wrote the AV News for the PSA Journal for which he received four Bronze and two Silver PSA Editorial Stars. He is presently the Treasurer of the Pictorial Print Division (PPD); Director of Awards for the PPD Print Workshops; the Manager of Group 1 of the PPD Print Workshops; a member of the Nature 1 Group of the American Portfolios; and active in the PPD Picture of the Month.
He received his APSA in 1993, and received a PPSA in 2008. He has stars in the Color Projected Image, Nature, and Electronic Imaging Divisions. He also received a PPD Award of Excellence in 2004 and 2005, and an EID Chairman’s Award in 2005. In 2010, he was given the PPD Service Medal Award.
For five years Rich was the Volunteer Staff Photographer for the Pittsburgh Zoo, and had 25 cover photos on their magazine. Richard had his first darkroom at the age of 12, and has been active in photography ever since.
