PPSA Gallery: Don Frisque, APSA, PPSA
Don has taken photos since he was a teenager. In 1988 he became serious about his hobby when he bought all new Canon equipment. He hasn’t looked back since in his desire to capture beautiful and artistic images. Don was born in Hong Kong, attended college in New York State, and served three years in the military as a surveying instructor. He was a Registered Land Surveyor in Wisconsin until he retired in 2001.
After joining PSA in 1994, he received his first acceptance in an exhibition in 1998, and his PPSA in 2005. He placed in the top 25 N. American Nature Exhibitors in “Who’s Who” in 2003 and 2004, and has earned many Best of Show medals. He has been the PSA Region 21 (Wisconsin) Director since 2003, and received the Region Director of the Year Award in 2005. Don has been a Travel Aide for Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan since 2004, and has served as a judge for PSA Exhibitions and camera clubs. Don received the APSA Honor in 2010.
Don served as Vice Chair and Chair of the Wisconsin Chapter of PSA. He has been a member of three local camera clubs in central Wisconsin, serving as program chair, treasurer, VP, and president. He has taught photography classes in the community and, since 1995, he has exhibited in many juried and public gallery venues, garnering over 25 awards. He has been published in national, state and local magazines, calendars and books, and sold numerous images.
