GMPSA Gallery: Dré Van Mensel, GMPSA
Dré Van Mensel was born in 1954 in Herentals, Belgium. As a child and youngster he was always interested in nature. The forest and meadows were his second habitat. The passion for photography started in 1983 when he joined the Tielense photo society 'Flits 80'. He occupied himself mainly with macrophotography: butterflies and caterpillars were his preference.
Twenty-three years later, in 2006, he decided it was time for digital photography. He joined “De Vorselaarse Fotovrienden” a photographic society that was digitally ahead for the time. There he had the opportunity to learn. Over the last few years he has focussed on nature photography.
Dré participates in almost every International Exhibition of photography. It is a real passion and he hopes to continue for many years. He received the PPSA distinction in 2003, the EPSA in 2004, the MPSA in 2011, and the GMPSA in 2012. He also has received the EFIAP Platinum. Five times he received the PSA “Nature Slide of the Year” in 2001, 2004, 2009, and for both Nature Open and Wildlife in 2005. He was winner of the “Europa Cup 2007.”
