EPSA Gallery: Buck Jenkins, EPSA
Buck Jenkins was born in Los Angeles, CA, in 1932. He attended various schools in Los Angeles and entered the University of Southern California in 1952. In 1958 he received a Ph.D. in English Literature. In 1960 he moved to Bend, Oregon, where he taught at Central Oregon Community College for nearly ten years.
Jenkins has always been interested in nature. As a child he collected butterflies; in his early adult life he collected petrified wood. Upon moving to Oregon, he joined the Cascade Camera Club and became an avid nature photographer. In the attempt to become a professional photographer, he traveled widely, with special interest in Alaska and Scandinavia, where he fell in love with mountain scenery and winter effects. In the late 1980's he also developed an interest in photographing star trails, sometimes involving exposures of up to eight hours. Jenkins continues to travel all over the United States and Canada in search of images which reflect his love of nature. He earned his EPSA in 2012.
