Nature Division (ND): Image of the Year Competition
EligibilityNEW: The 2012 exhibition year will also include 2012 medal-winning prints. All projected images and/or prints by a PSA member that have received a medal or other award higher than an Honorable Mention, whether in Nature open or Nature wildlife, in a PSA-recognized Nature Exhibition for the previous year, are eligible for this Year End free competition. In August 2013 the medal-winning projected images and/or prints from 2012 Exhibitions will be judged. EntryAll eligible entrants will receive an entry form, either by email or postal mail, from the Nature Image of the Year Director. This entry form will list the titles of the projected images and/or prints the member has that are eligible. Additionally, there will be instructions regarding how and where to enter online or by mail with a CD. All print submissions will be entered and judged as digital images. Entries for the 2012 year of exhibitions, are due by Monday, August 1, 2013. The judging will take place after the PSA Nature Division International Exhibition judging, mid-August 2013, and will be judged by the same Nature Exhibition judges. Images are not to be submitted prior to receiving the invitation entry form from the Director.
AwardsThere will be four medal awards presented; two for projected images and two for prints: one for Best Nature Open and one for Best Nature Wildlife along with six Honor Awards in each category both in projected images and prints. For 2012, projected images will be accepted. We will no longer accept slides. Prints will also be accepted but as a jpeg digital file only. They will be presented to the judges as a projected image. We will not accept or return any entries sent as prints. The winning images are shown at the PSA Annual Conference during the showing of the PSA Nature Exhibition, displayed on the PSA Nature Division web site, and are featured in an article in the PSA Journal.
Honor Award ribbons and the Image of the Year- Print of the Year plaques for the two categories (Open & Wildlife) are presented to the winners, if present, at the Nature Division Luncheon at the PSA Annual Conference. Awards are mailed to those who cannot attend the Conference. ResultsIn 2012 for 2011 exhibitions, 445 images were eligible from 185 entrants in 30 countries, and 248 (179 open & 69 wildlife) images were submitted from 104 entrants in 25 countries. 2011 Open Winners and 2011 wildlife winners (judged in 2012) In 2011, for 2010 Exhibitions, 486 images were eligible from 192 entrants in 28 countries, and 214 (126 open & 84 wildlife) images were submitted from 89 entrants in 18 countries. 2010 Open Winners and 2010 Wildlife Winners (judged in 2011) In 2010, for 2009 Exhibitions, 402 images were eligible from 169 entrants in 25 countries, and 192 (101 open & 91 wildlife) images were submitted from 89 entrants from 17 countries. 2009 Open Winners and 2009 Wildlife Winners (judged in 2010) *2012 images will be judged in August 2013
