Competition
PSA International Newsletter Contest

Director

Joan Field, APSA
142 St. Patrick Dr.
Danville, CA  94526

Conditions of Entry

Each PSA chapter, camera club or council with a printed or electronic newsletter of one sheet or more, published two times a year or more was invited to participate in the 2010 PSA Camera Club Committee International Newsletter Contest. The only other requirement was that your organization had to be a current member of PSA to enter the contest.

Entry

The contest requires electronic submissions of one regular issue published after June 1, 2009. (Because of the aborted newsletter contest last year, we have decided to have a backup for the director, thus requiring submissions to two email addresses.)
A new PSA club or council in 2009 - 2010 can enter an issue published after the date of PSA membership. Annual or special issues, yearly program schedules, rosters, directories, salon catalogs, or newsletters published only once a year do not qualify. To aid in judging entries, overseas entries not in English have to include a digital copy of a summary or translation of the content, not including advertisements.  All electronic entries must be submitted as Acrobat PDF files. It is recommended that one (1) hard copy of the electronic entry be submitted, as well, for use in the newsletters display book to be shown at the PSA conference.

Judging

Three qualified judges, each judging independently, review each entry. Following review, each judge rates the entries as to its total presentation compared to other entries in your division only. Points and awards are determined from these ratings. The size of the newsletter, quality of paper, printing process, and whether or not advertisements are used, has no bearing on points and awards. Content, layout, good use of space and photos, neatness, clean print, ease in reading, simplicity, and style are of basic importance. Please see the Judging Worksheets for specifics

Divisions

There are three entry divisions: Chapter/Council, Small Club (4-75), Large Club (76+)

Closing Date
The date is June 15, 2010

Awards

There will be First, Second, and Third Place Awards, Runner-Up Ribbons, and Outstanding Feature Awards. The Arthur P. Henricks, Jr., Memorial Award, the best of the best, will also be selected. Announcements of these awards will be made at the General Membership Meeting at this year’s 2010 PSA International Conference in Charleston, SC.
Entrants will also be given copies of the three judges worksheets to see how their newsletter succeeded in various categories.

Fee
There are no fees, but all entries must be from PSA member groups whose dues are currently paid.

The 2009 International Newsletter Contest was cancelled due to an accident that befell the director.  However, you may still review the winners from the 2008 contest as PDF documents to view and/or download.  To see the list and to view the 2008 winners, click on this line.  (LINK)     This page also has a link to all of the other digital entries.
